Manitoba is blessed with a rich abundance of natural flora and fauna . As a photographer I have chosen to focus the majority of my image making efforts to using photomacrography, macro and near macro phohotography as a means to exploring and learning about the landscape in which I live.
The images in the Flora and Fauna Galleries include some of the rare and unusual inhabitants native to Manitoba. We have 36 species of Orchids that are native to Manitoba and 7 species of carniverous plants. We have a unique and exceptionaly varied community of aquatic insects and have recorded some of the largest annual emeregences of aquatic insects yet known as well as some of the highest examples of localized diversity recorded anywhere on earth.
We live in a province whose landscape rewards careful consideration and patience by revealing the subtle beauty of things often overlooked. I hope you find the images engaging and that your own explorations bring you as much pleasure as the making of these images has brought me.
